A Different Way to Correct Your Vision

Contact lens exams start with a discussion about your lifestyle, visual needs, and contact lens preferences. We then conduct a series of tests, including assessing your visual acuity to see how well you see letters and symbols from different distances.

Further testing is also be needed to determine if you have specific visual needs that may require specialty lenses, like dry eyes.

Types of Contact Lenses

Contact lenses fall under 2 main categories: soft contact lenses and gas-permeable (RGP). Under these 2 categories, we offer a variety of specialty contact lenses to address some of your unique visual needs.

The EyePrintPRO is a transparent prosthetic scleral device designed to measure the exact contours of your individual eyes to create custom contact lenses that provide clear vision. The EyePrintPRO captures the unique irregularities of your eyes and can be used to create specialty lenses when other lenses and devices fail.

For more information, take a look at our EyePrintPRO treatment page.

Scleral contact lenses are a great option for those who can’t wear contacts due to issues like dry eye disease and keratoconus.

Scleral lenses differ from traditional contacts in terms of their size. They have a larger diameter and rest on the sclera—the whites of your eyes. Scleral lenses create a fluid reservoir and vault over the cornea to provide hydration and extra breathability.

Orthokeratology, also known as ortho-k, are specialty gas-permeable contact lenses that are worn while you sleep and gently reshape your cornea, reducing your dependence on glasses during the day.

Ortho-k can be an excellent option for adults and children with mild to moderate myopia.

For more information, take a look at our Ortho-K page.

Spherical aberration refers to the inability of a lens to focus light on a common point. Aspheric contact lenses are designed to control the average spherical aberration in the lens and human eye.

Aspheric lenses provide more precise light guidance than spheric lenses. In contrast to spherical lenses, aspheric contacts feature a changing curvature that reduces blur, improves depth perception, and enhances contrast sensitivity.

Toric contact lenses correct astigmatism and are available in soft and RGP designs. Astigmatism occurs when the clear front surface of the eye, also known as the cornea, or the lens inside the eye, is irregular on cylindrical in shape making traditional contacts hard to fit.

Toric lenses contain multiple powers, one vertical and the other horizontal. The bottom of the lens is weighted, allowing the lenses to center on the eye correctly. Toric contacts require a precise fit, and our team can help during the fitting process.

Multifocal contact lenses feature 2 distinct lens powers for near and distant vision. Multifocal lenses help correct presbyopia and reduce the need for reading glasses.

Multifocal contact lenses are available in soft and RGP options and can also be used to slow the progression of myopia in children.

Hybrid contact lenses feature a  gas-permeable center encased by a soft outer ring. Hybrid lenses correct refractive errors like myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and presbyopia.

Hybrid lenses also help correct keratoconus, which is an irregular curvature of the cornea.

The Ovitz system addresses both myopia and higher-order aberrations (HOAs), which are complex distortions affecting your vision that can increase with age or corneal diseases like keratoconus and post-LASIK complications.
